Q: If you could travel back in time, which of the great writers would you like to meet and why?

A: I think I’d share a six pack with Charles Bukowski.  His work has always been my favourite.

Q: What is the first book you remember reading or having read to you as a child?

A: I don’t remember the title, ‘Sniffles’ maybe but I clearly remember the story? It was read to me as a bed time story. it was about some stuffed toy who was falling apart. It made me sob uncontrollably. So much for sweet dreams.

Q: Do you have a lucky writing talisman? If so, what is it?

A: Purple gel ink.

Q: Do you have a favourite quote? (From a book, film, song, speech…)

A: So many… but I keep going back to a quote by Jonathan Raymond. ‘What is sorrow but old joy’

Q: What is the least interesting part of writing for you?

A: Editing – it is so much less exciting than the initial process and most frustrating because every time you think it might be finished…

Q: What superpower would you like to have and why?

A: Teleportation maybe? I’m scared to fly, claustrophobic on trains, not a great driver but love to travel.
