Lori Cramer
Lori Cramer writes stories of various lengths, from Twitter fiction to novels. Her short prose has appeared in Flash: The International Short-Short Story Magazine, Riggwelter, Fictive Dream, Unbroken Journal and Whale Road Review, among others. A baseball fan, she includes at least one baseball reference in each of her stories.
Embers, her first published piece, is included in the Eleventh Annual Writer’s Digest Short Short Story Competition Collection (2011), which features the twenty-five prize-winning stories chosen from more than 5,000 entries. Perspective, her first fifty-word story, was selected for The Best of Boston Literary Magazine, Volume One (2016). Scars, which appeared in Fictive Dream in February 2018, has been nominated for inclusion in the anthology Best Microfiction, 2018. To date, she has published forty-six stories in thirty-six publications.
Q: What is the first book you remember reading, or being read to as a child?
A: I remember reading Ramona the Pest by Beverly Cleary – and then every other Beverly Cleary book in the library.
Q: What is the least interesting part of writing for you?
A: I don’t find any part of the writing process uninteresting; however, I much prefer revising an existing draft to writing a first draft. Most of my stories go through many revisions.
Q: Who is your person of inspiration?
A: I’ve been blessed with a wonderful family.
