Thomas Morgan
Thomas Morgan is a writer from Worthing in West Sussex. He’s had stories published in Dream Catcher Magazine, Truffle Magazine, STORGY, Bandit Fiction, Untitled: Voices, Idle Ink, Sledgehammer Literary Journal, and Free Flash Fiction.
Thomas started writing short stories in 2019, having spent nearly three years trying to write TV pilots. His short story ‘Promises’ was shortlisted and published in the 2019 Leicester Writes Short Story Prize Anthology.
Q: If you could travel back in time, which of the great writers would you like to meet and why
A: Raymond Carver. I’d love to talk to him about writing short stories. I’m sure I’d learn a lot.
Q: Do you have a lucky writing talisman? If so, what is it?
A: Maybe Final Draft. I write all of my stories on Final Draft out of habit and fear of change.
Q: Do you have a favourite quote? (From a book, film, song, speech…)
A: Everyone and everything is interconnected in this universe. Stay pure of heart and you will see the signs. Follow the signs, and you will uncover your destiny – Jeff, Who Lives at Home (2011, dir. Jay and Mark Duplass)
Q: Is there a book that you keep going back to, and if so, how many times have you read it?
A: What We Talk About When We Talk About Love by Raymond Carver. I first read it in 2014, and I’ve gone back to it five or six times since then.
Q: What is the least interesting part of writing for you?
A: Probably research. Or writing about myself.
Q: What superpower would you like to have and why?
A: To pause or freeze time so I can get more writing done.
